Tame This

18072442TAME THIS continues with Jay’s story, a rebel of his own sort with the need for freedom and unfiltered opinions. His days of unruly behavior and risky decisions have dealt him a hand that he’s still trying to overcome as he seeks to accomplish his business dreams.

But the hits keep adding up. His best friend is knocked up by an ex that won’t back off, a family member drops in unexpectedly and questions need answered, and the easier aspects in life are suddenly being tested beyond his control.

When ultimate tragedy wreaks havoc on his life, it sends Jay over the edge. He can’t seem to manage the simple things anymore and he reverts back to his old ways of shutting people out and living carelessly. He loses everything he’s gained so far—everything that he didn’t know he wanted—all in one ugly weekend.

There is only one thing that can really save him from complete ruins, and this time it might not be so easily at his disposal. And then there is that damn McCallan pride that automatically resists help at every turn. It just may be the very thing that causes him to lose everything for good…

 My Thoughts on the Book

4.5 stars This  is the second book in the McCallan series and I liked it just as much as the first if not now.  This is Jay's story and he was a great friend, cousin and comic relief in the first book but is all of that and someone trying to find himself, forgive himself and maybe even admit he has fallen in love.  He and Melanie are great together, she know just how to handle him and it was fun to watch, no games but just a joy to see those two together.  They were a couple before they were a couple and it was fun to see Jay admit it.

Kiss This

1728776622-year-old Camryn Jacobs lost the love of her life once and vows to never kiss another guy unless she's in love with him. When she meets Teague, their attraction to one another is off the charts, and for the first time in two years, she wants to disregard her rule.

But Camryn makes a bet that he can't go just one week without kissing her. She's protecting her own fragile heart, but her wit and smart mouth end up driving Teague crazy.

When Teague is equally skilled at her challenge, their friendship turns complicated. He's not at all what she assumed, and he makes her feel things she never expected to feel. But sharing her true reasons for the no-kiss bet hurts too much and she keeps him in the dark.

Teague has his own secrets to hide, starting with his last name. It's the reason he left town--to lick his wounds until he can piece his life back together. His time with Camryn proves that it might actually be possible, but with the threat of his family and his past ruining all that he's finally gained, can he really take that risk again?

Loving might be easy; learning to trust again could be too difficult to achieve...

My thoughts on the Book

4.5 stars I really loved this story, the banter between Camryn and Teague was a lot of fun and the two were great together. This is a story about learning to trust and love again but it is done with humor and snarky dialogue. Teague is from a Hollywood family that he would rather not be a part of and Camryn is still trying to get off a terrible loss. Together they a a great team but Teague's secrets might tear them apart if he is not careful and learns to trust her. It is a great book and I will be reading the next one very soon.

Waiting on Wednesday 3

I am really looking forward to Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Ok I am always looking forward to  anything by her but Don't Look Back sounds like a great story and is out in just a few weeks! 4/15 in fact!

13418925Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

Four Years Later

FourYearsLaterNewest1"Over. "That about sums up everything in my life. Suspended from my college football team and forced to cut back my hours at The District bar because of my crappy grades, I can't keep turning to my sister, Fable, and her pro-football playing husband, Drew, to bail me out. I just can't seem to find my own way. Weed and sex are irresistible temptations--and it's messed up that I secretly hand over money to our junkie mom. A tutor is the last thing I want right now--until I get a look at her.
Chelsea is not my type at all. She's smart and totally shy. I'm pretty sure she's even a virgin. But when she gives me the once over with those piercing blue eyes, I'm "really" over. But in a different way. I won't deny her ass is killer, but it's her brain and the way she seems to crave love--like no one's ever given her any--that make me want her more than any girl I've ever met. But what would someone as seemingly together as her ever see in a screwed up guy like me?

My Thoughts on the Book

This was Owen's story and Owen's story alone. Yes we got to see Fable and Drew but it was very much his story. I really enjoyed it, there were not a lot of surprises here but the story is sweet and honest and we see Owen trying to do the right thing for so many people he does not always know how to do right by himself. We see him grow and Chelsea is a good and fun influence on him, very happy for this whole family I have grown to love.

Maybe Someday

17788403At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance—and the enchanting music that inspires one young woman to put her life back together.

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers Slammed, Point of Retreat, Hopeless, This Girl, and Losing Hope, Maybe Someday is destined to become another bestseller and long-lasting fan favorite.

My Thoughts on the Book

I know I have said this before but I just do not know how Colleen does it. She is able to put so much emotion into a book it is almost too much but at the same time it is just perfect. This book was just perfect. There were points in the book I was laughing so hard I was crying and then there were parts that I was just crying for Sydney and Ridge. This book alternates POVs and you will feel for both of them. Sometimes there is no right or wrong there is just love and love does not always play fair even if the people try to do what is right.

If you do not already know this is an unusual book in that there is also a soundtrack to go with it. I bought the album before the book came out and listened to if for about 2 weeks before I read the book. It was a wonderful way to experience the story as I was singing some of the songs Sydney and Ridge wrote while I was reading along. If you do not have the album yet, it is worth it too!

Archer's Voice - Such a beautiful story!

20639274When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

My Thoughts on the Book

This was such a beautiful story and I am so happy I chose to try this book. Bree and a recent college graduate that had just lost her father and she was feeling alone in the world and decided to get away to "find herself", which she admits she is really just running away. She moves herself to Maine, to the last place she had a happy memory of her whole family. While there she meets Archer, a gorgeous man that is a loner and has been isolated from the world and the town since he was 7 years old. Archer does not speak and the small town mostly ignores him but Bree saw something in him right away and tries to be his friend. As Bree learns how to communicate with Archer we learn more about both of them and Archer starts to come out of his shell. The story is beautifully paced and while Bree helps Archer she never pushes and soon Archer learns how to help himself. This is a wonderful story of healing, and trust and while I don't want to give anything else away it does have an HEA, I was worried for a chapter and a half and about to throw the book across the room but the HEA is there and it is a wonderful one.

Next week is going to be a great week for book releases and I have two that I am especially waiting for. See Me by Wendy Higgins and Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover.

Driven

17798287Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

My Thoughts on the Book

OMG! This book was amazing and so much fun. Colton is a rich race car driver with a very troubled past and you can not help but feel for him. Rylee is a very sweet social worker with a past not as troubled as Colton but equally painful. The instantly fall for each other, literally, but Rylee sees Colton as a player and a bad boy which he does not deny but he still wants her. Her saying no is the best thing that has ever happened to him and that is when the fun begins. It is clear that Colton needs Rylee but we just hope it will be enough to really heal this bad boy. The books ends on an emotional cliffhanger and I am very happy I started reading this book when the 2nd one was already out, because I started reading book 2 as soon as I finished Driven.

Fearless

20750028When I met Kiersten, time stood still. It was as if every cell in my body screamed HER. I couldn't look away, I couldn't walk away, I couldn't even move. My other half, my soul mate, was staring right at me. I had to have her. I had to make her mine. But I felt selfish doing that--knowing that I may not have endless amounts of time to give her...and even now that every things' over with and I've been given that time back.

Nothing is ever certain in this life.

Which is why I'm about to do something crazy, impulsive, daring.
After all, what type of person would I be if I didn't take my own advice?
I'm jumping off the cliff, I'm living fearlessly.

This is the continuation of Wes and Kiersten's story.

My Thoughts on the Book

This books is wonderful but READ TOXIC FIRST! Fearless is a conclusion for Wes and Kiersten story, and it is a beautiful one. Have tissues ready for happy tears. The story is short a sweet but with so much emotion I am grateful it was not longer, my heart can only take so much. ( this is a good thing) Fearless also starts to set us up for Lisa's story and I am so looking forward to that! Enjoy!

Toxic

Toxic (Ruin, #2)Everyone has a secret...

Gabe Hyde is on borrowed time. He's been hiding his identity for over four years-hidden from the world that used to adore him--obsess over him--driven to the edge of insanity by one poor choice.
But that one choice, altered the course of his life forever.
Pretending isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially when pretending means hiding your real self from the people that care about you the most. But if anyone ever discovered the truth it wouldn't just be his life at risk--but hers.

Saylor doesn't hate men.
Just Gabe.
Only Gabe.
He's a reckless, happy-go-lucky, silver spoon fed pain in her ass. Everything about him makes her more and more confused. Unfortunately they both donate time at the same Group Home. If she wasn't afraid of flunking, she'd be long gone. She hates that she's attracted to him almost as much as he hates that he's attracted to her--and she can tell, especially since their first encounter ended up making her knees so weak she couldn't form coherent sentences for weeks afterwards. But the closer she gets to him, the more confused she becomes. He isn't who he says he is, and he's hiding something big.

What happen when two worlds collide? Two worlds that never should have met in the first place? Some secrets are too big to be hidden forever--the only question? Will his destroy everyone he loves? Or finally bring about the redemption he's been craving for the past four years?

Everyone has a secret...What's yours?

My Thoughts on the Book

Toxic is almost as emotional of a book as Ruin and it is a beautiful one. Gabe has a secret, one his friends would never suspect and when he meets Saylor his past and his present collide and he can no longer hide anymore. This is a story of mistakes and betrayal but also of learning to love again. And while I say it is almost as emotional as Ruin, it may in reality be just as emotional but I was just more prepared for it. Ruin still takes my breath away and Toxic will for you too.

Hard as You can

18053019
Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.

Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn't want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can—and never let go.

My Thoughts on the Book

I loved Hard as it Gets and I loved Hard as You Can just as much. This is a continuation of the first book with us now knowing a little bit more about what it going in. Shane is the focus of this book along with Crystal that we did meet briefly in the first book. Crystal a Shane's story is a great one of learning to trust again. And while we know a little bit more about what is going on the more they solve the more gets added to the mystery. This again is a great balance of romance and mystery and I am looking forward to the next one, in fact I will be counting the days!
